3 Complains about vodafone 7.2Mbps claim

3 mobile have made an official complaint to the ASA (advertising standards association) against vodafone mobile broadbands advertising of its “7.2Mbps” download speed.

3 claim that the 7.2Mpbs speeds are not a true reflection of most customers can expect to receive as these speeds are only available in small pockets of vodafones network.

This has come after vodafones recent price cuts bring there products into line with 3’s packages . 3’s services are currently advertised with speeds of upto 2.8Mbps

Going by what mobile broadband users have been saying in our broadband.org mobile forum I think 3 have a good case as the 7.2Mbps will rarely if ever be achieved by a normal user !

Three’s wireless mobile broadband is a dodgy deal at its core. Their tactics in selling and keeping customers are criminal. The poorest technical support of all Australian isp’s along with dodgy data use reporting are one thing. Most everyone i know who’ve used their mobile broadband service have had the same story. Techs who string dissatisfied clients along on their never ending phone waits…error filled billing and inconsistent volume usage tabulation on their part. Dodgy, go with optus, telstra, vodaphone. Save yourself some grief and stay clear of this mob.

I live in the uk and have been using vodafone mobile broadband for 6 months. When i signed up in the vodafone store they made me aware of exactly what 3 complains about and steered me to the huaweii e220 3.6mbps for this reason. They asked me where i’d be likely to use my laptop when i enquired about the 7.2 modem stick then told me exactly what is said above. Pretty decent of them if you ask me.
