3 UK are reporting a massive increse in data traffic on its network since it launched its market leading dongle last October. the companys CEO Kevin Russell said the network had gained half a million new user “from nowhere” and told of plans to share parts of its network with T mobile as well as plans to increase its 3G speeds.

I have a Three mobile broadband dongle and it is possibly… strike that… DEFINITELY the most unreliable piece of USB equipment I have known to date.
I guess that at £10 a month you pay for what you get, but colleagues of mine have modems from other companies and have none of the problems I do.
Hmm, I wouldn’t go so far as to say it is unreliable. The modem works fine at 3am in the morning when everyone else has gone to bed.
The network in my area is grossly overloaded and it seems that 3 are doing very little to improve things. I was told before Christmas that the network was being upgraded to 7.2 Mb/s before the end of 2008.
It is now May of 2009, and I STILL don’t get any better than a dial-up 56k modem at the times when I most want to use it. I had a modem 10 years ago that gave me a better performance.
There may be a 700% increase in traffic, but there isn’t a 700% increase in network support.
To anyone considering mobile broadband: think carefully before signing the contract.
You are lucky Torbayman - I can’t even get close to the dial-up 56k modem speed using 3 mobile’s Pay as you go so called “3g”….
Its a pure frustration.
Shame!
